April feels heavier for Ashley Rivera after revealing that her mother is currently battling cancer.
In an emotional Instagram Reel, the comedienne also known as Petra Mahalimuyak shared a heartfelt moment as she tried to lift her mom’s spirits inside a hospital room.
Holding a small megaphone, Ashley sang “You Are My Sunshine” to her mother lying in bed. But midway through the song, her voice faltered as tears took over.
“Please don’t take my sunshine away,” she wrote in the caption.
“I wish this was just an April Fool’s post but this is my reality now,” she added.
Despite the pain, Ashley expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers from supporters.
“My mama bear is a fighter!” she said.
