Theater group probes harassment claims.

Note: This report contains mentions of sexual harassment.

Barefoot Theatre Collaborative has responded to allegations of sexual harassment against one of its producers, encouraging alleged victim-survivors to directly submit reports.

In a statement on May 1, the local theater company said it takes seriously the allegations circulating online.

“As a company, we’ve always aimed to create a safe environment for everyone we work with. This is reflected in our policies, clear grievance channel, open lines of communication with our leaders, and other practices that support our team members,” the company said.

Since April 25, Reddit users in the r/TeatroPH community have reported instances of sexual harassment by one of the company’s producers. The suspected perpetrator has since turned off comments on his Instagram account.

Barefoot Theatre Collaborative called on members of the community to send reports though info@barefootcollab.com to investigate the matter.

The company assured that reports will be handled “with care and responsibility” and used only for the purpose of investigation.

Barefoot Theatre Collaborative has produced plays like “Bar Boys: The Musical” and Mula Sa Buwan,” with an upcoming original musical about the life of historical figure Gabriela Silang.
