Inside Hethereau: “Neverness to Everness” blends life sim, combat, and chaos.

With its official global launch on April 29, 2026, Neverness to Everness has finally moved from its ambitious trailer to a playable reality. Developed by Hotta Studio and published by Perfect World Games, this supernatural urban open-world RPG is available on PC, PS5, and mobile with full cross-play support.

Set within the hauntingly beautiful city of Hethereau, the game places you in the role of an unlicensed anomaly hunter. You begin your journey working in a dusty antique shop doing normal things, but the mundane quickly shifts into the surreal.

One moment you are handling everyday artifacts, and the next, you find yourself investigating reality-warping phenomena in the city’s neon-lit streets.

The core gameplay experience is a massive undertaking that feels like a hybrid of “Genshin Impact’s vibrant artwork, a deep Sims-style lifestyle experience, and the super freedom of “Grand Theft Auto,” make it paranormal. You manage a team of four espers, swapping between them to trigger explosive elemental reactions during combat.

Experience designed for total immersion

The game offers a staggering variety of side activities that make the world feel like a living, breathing ecosystem. You can spend your afternoon running your own boutique cafe, decorating your apartment, or sitting down for a game of mahjong. This full-on experience is designed for total immersion, creating a world where you can start playing and truly never feel the need to leave.

It feels like NTE is positioning itself as a “jack-of-all-trades” in terms of player experience, but the game does occasionally struggle with the master-of-none trap. While the sheer volume of things to do is impressive, some of the individual mechanics can feel slightly messy or less polished than titles that focus on a single genre.

The hardware requirements are also quite steep, making it a demanding title for those without the latest devices. However, despite these growing pains, the game manages to provide a cohesive atmosphere that rewards players who want more than just a standard combat loop.

Undeniable potential

So, is it the perfect game of 2026? Not quite, but its potential is undeniable.

“Neverness to Everness” is a breath of fresh air for players who are tired of traditional high-fantasy tropes and are looking for something that bridges the gap between high-adrenaline action and a cozy life simulator. It captures the unique thrill of finding the extraordinary within the ordinary, offering a stylish and ambitious escape for anyone willing to brave the anomalies of Hethereau.

It is a bold step forward for urban RPGs, proving that a game can be both a chaotic simulator and a comfortable home at the same time.
