Globe Telecom stunned the industry by unveiling its operational blueprints for Starlink Direct-to-Cell network integration. Slated for a commercial launch in early June, the groundbreaking partnership bridges the gap between outer-space infrastructure and everyday consumer handsets, providing millions of isolated travelers, maritime workers, and provincial communities with seamless emergency backup communication lines straight through their existing mobile plans.
Platinum users get free access; select postpaid users are included in the Globe rollout.
Starlinkis set to come bundled free for certain Globe Telecom Postpaid and Platinum subscribers when it launches in the Philippines in early June, in a move that ties satellite connectivity directly to mainstream mobile plans.
Under the rollout, new and existing Platinum customers will get free access to Starlink’s direct-to-cell service. Select Postpaid users will also be included, though the telco did not fully detail the qualifying tiers, said chief commercial officer Darius Delgado at a May 26 briefing.
The setup positions Globe Telecom as the local operator for Starlink’s Philippine deployment, bringing the Elon Musk-linked satellite service into its mobile ecosystem rather than offering it as a standalone product.
For now, Starlink access will launch on Android with introductory prepaid-style passes priced at ₱99 for 30 days and ₱299 for 90 days, suggesting a phased rollout before wider integration.
The partnership, first signed in January, covers Direct-to-Cell satellite connectivity aimed at patching coverage gaps in areas where terrestrial mobile signal remains weak or unavailable.
Dead zones are officially dead. Globe bundles free Starlink direct-to-cell access for Platinum and Postpaid users this June
