Company launches internal probe, urges victims to come forward via confidential channels.

Trigger warning: This report deals with sexual abuse.

The Barefoot Theatre Collaborative (BTC) producer who’s facing sexual harassment allegations has “voluntarily stepped back” from their duties pending an internal investigation.

In a May 29 post with a disabled comments section, BTC said “the person at the center of discussions”—without naming them—said online discussions over the past few weeks “have raised serious concerns that had not previously reached us, formally or informally.”

BTC’s executive team includes Pat Valera, Rona Raissa A. Gutierrez, Fatima Baggao, John Mark Yap (JMY), Gab Pangilinan, and Myke Salomon. Its resident directors are Mikko Angeles, Caisa Borromeo, Rem Zamora, and Jomelle Era.

“We recognize the weight of these conversations, and we took time to seek counsel and carefully consider the appropriate next steps,” BTC said, adding it has the “responsibility to review matters involving its team members through a structured and impartial process.”

The alleged abuser “won’t have access to the company’s communication channels or take part in its activities” during the review.

BTC reiterated its previous call to potential victims to come forward through a “proper and confidential” platform, at bit.ly/btcsafespaceform.

It also encouraged them to approach the independent Philippine Theater Actors Guild, Inc. (TAG PH) Helpdesk, at helpdesk@tagph.org. BTC clarified that TAG PH “will not conduct an investigation, make findings, or share identifying details with BTC without consent, except as required by law or when necessary to address an immediate safety concern.”

The company added that it “remains committed to supporting safe and respectful work environments.”

The group first acknowledged the allegations on May 1 after they began circulating on the Reddit community “r/TeatroPH.” The individual linked to the accusations has since turned off comments on their Instagram account.

BTC has produced “Bar Boys: The Musical,” “Mula Sa Buwan,” and “We Are Not Kids Anymore,” and has an upcoming play about historical figure Gabriela Silang.
