MICHELIN-recognized Lore temporarily closes after BGC building fire

Chef Tatung’s Filipino restaurant will stay shut until One Bonifacio High Street reopens.

Lore, a traditional Filipino restaurant included in the inaugural Philippine MICHELIN Guide, is temporarily closing following the fire at the One Bonifacio High Street building.

“It pains us to temporarily close Lore,” owner Myke “Tatung” Sarthou said in a Facebook post on May 29. “Lore will remain temporarily closed until One Bonifacio High Street Mall reopens to the public.”

Sarthou noted that his team is aware that diners “have been looking forward to dining with us.”

“[W]e are deeply grateful for your patience, understanding, and continued support during this time,” he added. “We look forward to welcoming you back to the table soon.”

According to the Taguig city government, the fire broke out in the One Bonifacio High Street building’s electrical room on May 27. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The MICHELIN Guide made its Philippine debut in October 2025, with selections from Metro Manila, Pampanga, Tagaytay, Cavite, and Cebu (“Manila and Environs & Cebu”).

In its citation for Lore, the guide commended Chef Tatung’s “homage to Filipino cuisine—traditional, yet thoughtfully reimagined.”

“Tatung blends heritage and creativity in dishes that tell a story, highlighting the depth and diversity of the country’s food culture,” it added. “His journey is echoed in each plate, and his work continues to shape the way Filipinos enjoy their culinary traditions.”
