BCDA signs agreement for large-scale renewable energy facility aimed at powering tech and industrial locators.

A major renewable energy project is set to rise inside New Clark City after Acwa Power Philippines, the local arm of the world’s largest private water desalination company, secured a 500-hectare site for a large-scale solar and battery storage facility.

The project will deliver an integrated solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system with up to 500 MW capacity, designed to provide round-the-clock electricity once fully developed, subject to approvals and staged expansion.

At full build-out, the facility is expected to power data centers, advanced manufacturing operations, and other energy-intensive industries moving into the fast-growing estate, giving incoming locators a more stable supply of clean energy.

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority confirmed the agreement, saying the investment comes amid rising demand for reliable renewable power in large economic zones built for technology and industrial use.

The project carries an estimated investment of at least $400,000 per MW, highlighting the scale of capital tied to the development.

Officials said the deal also supports the Philippines’ target of raising renewable energy’s share to 35% by 2030, while positioning New Clark City as a hub for AI-driven industries, manufacturing, and digital infrastructure powered by cleaner energy sources.

Acwa Power described the Philippines as a strong market for large-scale clean infrastructure, while BCDA said the project strengthens efforts to attract high-value tenants that rely on steady, low-carbon electricity.
