Only 30 participants will be accepted.
Environmental organization UP Wild is inviting birdwatchers, students, photographers, and nature lovers to join a guided bird walk around the University of the Philippines Diliman on June 12.
The announcement was made by UP Wild through a Facebook post, where the group said the activity is being organized in collaboration with Bird With Us as part of its efforts to encourage appreciation of the campus’ rich biodiversity.
Interested participants may register through this Google Form: https://forms.gle/1ibrD5UsfEamrjwM7
According to UP Wild, participation will be limited to 30 people to ensure the activity remains manageable and provides a better experience for attendees.
The group said successful applicants will receive confirmation via SMS or email. Those who do not receive a confirmation message by June 10 will be considered outside the cut-off for the June 12 event.
UP Wild also noted that additional bird walks are being planned in the future for those unable to secure a slot.
The bird walk will give participants the opportunity to observe birds in their natural habitat while learning more about urban biodiversity and conservation. Despite being located in Metro Manila, UP Diliman remains one of the country’s most important urban green spaces and serves as a refuge for numerous bird species, including herons, egrets, kingfishers, orioles, and migratory visitors.
Through activities like this, UP Wild hopes to raise awareness about the ecological importance of preserving green spaces and protecting wildlife within the city.
The announcement was accompanied by a photograph of a heron perched among the trees of the UP Diliman campus, highlighting the kind of wildlife that participants may encounter during the guided walk.
