Green GSM resumes Davao City operations after permit suspension

Electric taxi service returns months after regulators halted rollout over compliance issues.

Davaoeños may once again start spotting electric vehicles on the city’s roads after Green GSM Philippines announced that its premium all-electric taxi service has officially resumed operations in Davao City.

This marks its return months after local authorities suspended its initial rollout over permit and clearance issues.

Several VinFast electric vehicles bearing the Green GSM branding have already been seen across downtown Davao, including near major commercial areas.

Green GSM first entered Davao in December 2025, promoting quieter and zero-emission rides as an alternative to conventional taxis. However, the Davao City local government later ordered the closure of its depot and suspended operations after finding that the company had not yet secured several local permits and endorsements required of public transport operators.

Officials at the time emphasized that environmental initiatives and new technologies must still comply with existing regulations before being allowed to operate locally.

Now back on the road, Green GSM is encouraging Davaoeños to sign up for its app, offering reward points that can be used for future rides.

The company, which originated from Vietnam, operates what it describes as the country’s first premium all-electric taxi fleet. Passengers can book rides through its mobile app, flag down taxis on the street, or call the company’s hotline.
