Sen. Robin Padilla draws flak after attending “Bad Boy 3” screening while the Senate holds a special session on priority bills.
Robin Padilla attended a special screening of his latest film on Wednesday, June 17, while the Senate was holding a special session of Congress to tackle priority legislative measures.
The senator shared his attendance through a Facebook Live broadcast, giving followers a glimpse of the event as it took place.
The screening was for “Bad Boy 3,” the latest installment in Padilla’s long-running action franchise. Also known as “Bad Boy 3: Bagani,” the film marks the return of one of the actor’s most recognizable screen characters more than three decades after the release of the original movies.
Produced by VIVA Films and RCP International, the project serves as a major big-screen comeback for Senator Padilla as an action star. The first two Bad Boy films were released in 1990 and 1992, helping cement his status as one of Philippine cinema’s leading action heroes.
Senator Padilla’s appearance at the screening drew attention online as it coincided with the Senate’s special session, where lawmakers convened to deliberate on key measures identified as priorities by the administration.
As of writing, the senator has not publicly addressed his absence from the legislative session.
Padilla’s attendance at the screening coincided with a pivotal day in the Senate. During the special session, senators elected Sherwin Gatchalian as the new Senate President, formally ending the leadership deadlock in the chamber and replacing Alan Peter Cayetano. The reorganization also placed Cayetano and his allies—including Padilla—under the minority bloc, marking a significant shift in the Senate’s balance of power.
