Uncle Bob’s Sea Moss cautions against possible impostors after CCTV shows documents taken from Forbestown stall.
A store in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig has claimed that its business permits were allegedly stolen in plain sight.
Uncle Bob’s Sea Moss, a wellness brand selling specialty drinks, said the permits were taken from its Forbestown BGC stall.
The incident took place on June 14 at around 7:30 PM. The store’s CCTV footage shows a woman skimming through the store’s permits, which were on full display in compliance with the law. She appears to have taken the documents while store staff were attending to a customer’s order.
“We’re sharing this not to create fear, but to raise awareness. Business documents can potentially be misused to misrepresent a brand, create false transactions, or make future attempts appear legitimate,” the company said in a Threads post.
Netizens have speculated that the culprit may have taken the documents to illegitimately set up her own business, using the store’s name as a cover. However, some pointed out that the woman may have been unwell, since she can be seen looking directly at the store’s CCTV camera.
Business owners and customers alike have sympathized with Uncle Bob’s over the incident, sharing frustration over the hassle of applying for permits and the stress of dealing with scammers.
Uncle Bob’s warned the public not to engage with anyone who claims to represent the business outside of its official social media channels. It also appealed for potential leads through its official contact details: 0917 864 1923, 0969 490 7437, and unclebobsph@gmail.com.
