Actor-singer praises “Someone, Someday” co-star, celebrates Album of the Year win, and addresses Issa Pressman speculation.
James Reid didn’t hide his excitement about working with Kathryn Bernardo in the series “Someone, Someday.” And really, why would he? For years, James was one half of the wildly popular JaDine with Nadine Lustre, while Kathryn was inseparable from Daniel Padilla in the equally formidable KathNiel.
The two loveteams weren’t just dominant forces. They were often seen as each other’s biggest rivals, going head-to-head in both popularity and box-office clout. So, seeing James and Kathryn finally share the screen feels less like a simple casting choice and more like a full-circle moment we never quite saw coming.
In an interview with radar Entertainment at the 17th Star Awards for Music held at Teatrino Promenade in Greenhills on June 25, the actor had nothing but praise for his “Someone, Someday” leading lady.
“She’s super grounded, very hands-on with the project. She really makes the set feel like a family,” he shared. “Like I’ve said, I learn a lot working with her.”
Still, James admitted that being paired with the A-list Kapamilya actress comes with its own pressure. “To be honest, I was very nervous. There’s a lot of pressure working with such big names in the industry,” he said. “But I actually learned a lot working with Kathryn. I’m very excited to watch this project.”
The series also marks a significant return for the actor. His last film project was “Miss Granny” in 2018, while his most recent TV series was “Till I Met You,” alongside Nadine Lustre, who was still his girlfriend at the time.

Despite the long gap, James said stepping back into acting felt natural.
“Di naman. I felt like I was back home, like I never left.”
“Malapit nang matapos, so it’s going to be out maybe in July. I can’t wait. I’m super excited about this project, especially since it’s also a collaboration with Maja Salvador. It’s definitely something I’ve never done before, so I’m very excited,” James shared.
At the same event, James’ album “jgh (Deluxe)” took home Album of the Year at the 17th Star Awards for Music. The actor-singer expressed his gratitude for the recognition, noting how much work he poured into the project.
“I’m very proud of it, this particular award. I really worked hard on this album, so I say thank you to PMPC for this recognition,” he said. “Definitely, it’s encouraging. I tried something new in this project, so it’s very encouraging and makes me believe I should keep doing what I’m doing—expressing myself through music, encouraging other artists. So, thank you.”
James also dedicated the award to his girlfriend, Issa Pressman. When asked about rumors circulating that she is pregnant, the actor was quick to address the speculation.
“Yeah, I’m sad she’s not here, but I’m sure she’ll see the message online,” he said, before reacting to the rumor with a laugh: “Pregnant? I wish…”
