Original hosts Tito, Vic, and Joey bring back first female co-host, sparking fan nostalgia for the iconic noontime show.
One of the most nostalgic moments following the 47th anniversary celebration of the original “Eat Bulaga” came when original hosts Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon recently reunited with their first female co-host, Chiqui Hollmann.
The reunion delighted longtime fans of the iconic noontime program, bringing together some of the personalities who helped launch the show when it premiered in 1979.
Known by her full name Helen Marie Hollmann-Yulo, Chiqui was one of the five pioneering hosts of “Eat Bulaga,” joining Tito, Vic, Joey, and the late Richie D’Horsie in introducing what would become the country’s longest-running noontime variety show.
Chiqui left the program in 1982 and later joined rival noontime shows “Student Canteen” and “Lunch Date.” She officially stepped away from show business in 1988 but has remained active in broadcasting as host of the FEBC radio program “Recado” on 702 DZAS.
Despite leaving the show decades ago, Chiqui has maintained her connection with “Eat Bulaga!” She returned as a guest during the program’s Silver Special in 2004 and later appeared in the Holy Tuesday episode of the 2019 “Eat Bulaga!” Lenten special, titled “Byaheng Broken Hearted.”
The latest reunion served as a heartwarming reminder of the enduring friendship among the original hosts and the lasting legacy of the beloved noontime program after 47 years on Philippine television.
