Jonathan Manalo and Star Music back rising girl group oona as P-pop surge continues in the mainstream scene.

Rising P-pop girl group oona has officially signed with Star Music, marking a major milestone for the five-member act as they step onto a bigger stage under the ABS-CBN music label.

During the contract signing, ABS-CBN Music Creative Director and Audio Content Head Jonathan Manalo expressed confidence in the group’s potential, saying, “Ibang level na talaga ang talent and performance ng Gen Z.”

Star Music label head Andie Arellano also recalled being immediately impressed after hearing the group for the first time.

“Very promising young ladies,” she said, revealing that she quickly reached out to Manalo after discovering the group, telling him, “Mukhang okay sila.”

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN Music head Roxy Liquigan expressed optimism about both the genre and the group’s future.

“P-pop is now. P-pop is happening… and 2027 is gonna be the year for oona.”

The members—Isaki, Coleen, Bella, Jaylou, and Kari—became emotional as they reflected on reaching the milestone.

“After so many redirections… sobrang surreal po talaga. We are grateful and blessed,” the group shared.

Before joining Star Music, oona gained attention through their self-written debut single “DARAMA.” The group also brings together members with diverse backgrounds, including former MNL48 members Isaki (Generation 2) and Coleen (Generation 1), while Bella previously trained under G-Force and Legit Status.

The signing comes as P-pop continues to expand its mainstream presence, with Star Music adding another promising act to its growing roster of Filipino artists.
