“Mommy Guard” bridges generations as MarJo returns with fresh stories, debuting on TV5 this September.
TV5 has officially unveiled “Mommy Guard,” reuniting Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal in a feel-good morning series that blends romance, comedy, family, and relatable stories inspired by modern Filipino life.
During the launch, Jolina shared her gratitude that the love for the iconic “MarJo” tandem has endured through the years and is now being embraced by a new generation of viewers.
“Natutuwa kami ni Marvin kasi ang mga nagmahal sa amin noong ‘90s ay nagmamahal pa rin hanggang ngayon at may bago na, ‘yong mga anak na nila ay minamahal na kami.”
She added that while their reunion naturally brings back memories, every project they do together offers something fresh.
“Nakakatuwa kapag nakikita nila kami ni Marvin throwback, nostalgia, yes, pero every time kaming magkakasama ni Marvin at every time na may project kaming gagawin ay excited kami kasi bago ang ipinapakita namin as Marvin-Jolina and as MarJo.”
For Marvin, working with Jolina always comes with one familiar challenge—trying not to fall for their effortless chemistry all over again.
“Iyan ang pinaka mahirap na pinagdaraanan ko tuwing magkaka-trabaho kami, kasi nga kanina nga lang na kumakanta lang… Hirap na.”
He also reflected on how their friendship and affection have remained unchanged despite the passing years.
“Noong nagpi-pictorial nga kami at ang cute cute namin sabi ko nga kay Jolina, ‘Alam mo ba na 50 na tayo in two years?’ And iyong pagmamahal, ‘yon nga ang sabi ni Jolina, I guess ‘yon ang hindi magbabago,” Marvin said. “Mahal na mahal namin ang isa’t isa mapa-personal man o trabaho. Natutuwa kami na we enjoy every time we perform, ay andon pa rin [ang magic].”
Jolina believes that while fans continue to embrace the Marvin-Jolina love team, it is equally important to show how their partnership has matured through the years.
“Natutuwa ako kasi ‘pag nakikita nila ang Marvin-Jolina, talagang andon ang saya sa puso nila at ayaw naming mawala iyon ni Marvin. Pero gusto rin namin iparamdam sa mga nanonood na ang aming samahan ay napapanahon at nag-evolve din.”
With “Mommy Guard,” Marvin and Jolina hope to introduce their unmistakable chemistry to a new generation while giving longtime fans another reason to smile as they relive the magic of one of the country’s most enduring love teams.
Joining Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal in “Mommy Guard” are Cedrick Juan, Pearl Gonzales, Nathalie Apollo, Amo Wilding, Celyn David, Patrick Ballesteros, and Roxanne Guinoo.
Directed by Roman Perez Jr., “Mommy Guard” is set to premiere on TV5 this September.
