The Asia’s Songbird achieves a three-night sellout at MOA Arena ahead of her potential stage finale.
Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid couldn’t hide his happiness and pride as his wife, Songbird Regine Velasquez, continues to prove her staying power as one of the country’s most celebrated powerhouse singers.
Regine is set to mark what could be her finale on the big concert stage as she celebrates 40 years in the music industry, and her upcoming shows have already given fans another reason to celebrate.
The third day of her finale concert at the Mall of Asia Arena on October 19 sold out within hours after tickets went on sale, completing a three-night sold-out run.
On Instagram, Ogie shared a photo of himself and Regine doing their routine walk and sprints. He jokingly credited the sold-out shows for giving his wife even more motivation to stay active.
“Dahil sold out na ang three days ng ‘Finale,’ lalong ginanahan si Misis for walk and sprints!!! Hallelujah!” he wrote.
Before the October 19 show was declared sold out, the first two dates October 17 and 18 had already sold out, giving Regine a full three-night run at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The sold-out concerts come as Regine prepares for a major milestone in her career. It can be recalled in an interview with Billboard Philippines, the iconic Filipina singer opened up about preparing to take what could be her final bow on the big concert stage.
For Regine, however, retirement does not necessarily mean walking away from music. Instead, she described it as a shift in purpose that would allow her to embrace music on her own terms.
“It’s different now. I’ve gotten older and for women, it’s different. My voice has gone through a lot of changes, but somehow I’m still able to pull through. Pero nowadays, it’s more difficult. Parang ’pag nadadagdagan ng digits ’yong edad ko, nababawasan ’yong boses ko. It’s getting more difficult to sing,” she said.
As her much-anticipated finale draws closer, the three sold-out shows serve as a testament to Regine’s enduring appeal and the deep connection she has built with generations of Filipino music lovers.
