Gian Bernardino completes four-man cast of ‘One For The Road’

Gian Bernardino joins Elijah Canlas, JM Ibarra, and Emilio Daez in Kip Oebanda’s upcoming film project.

Cup of Joe frontman Gian Bernardino is officially rounding out the cast of Regal Entertainment’s upcoming film “One For The Road,” setting the stage for a promising cinematic career after his upcoming professional acting debut in the local adaptation of “Pee Mak.”

After signing with Viva Artists Agency in mid-2026 and previously making a memorable appearance in Maris Racal’s “Sino Ang Tanga” music video, Bernardino is fully stepping into the acting spotlight. 

While “Pee Mak PH” will serve as his first official professional film credit, it is his upcoming role as Jomar in the Kip Oebanda-Victor Villanueva collab that promises a push for Bernardino’s career in the local film industry.

Directed by Kip Oebanda, the filmmaker behind acclaimed hits like “Liway” and “Balota,” and co-written with “Patay na si Hesus” director Victor Villanueva, the film follows four friends escaping the mounting pressures of their working-class lives. What begins as a simple road trip quickly evolves into a poignant journey navigating friendship, grief, mental health, and the harsh realities of adulthood.

Bernardino completes a dynamic ensemble that features JM Ibarra as Garry, a fun-loving barista masking his inner frustrations with humor; Elijah Canlas as Ariel, a rising star desperate to escape the suffocating spotlight of his showbiz love team; and Emilio Daez as Luke, a strict academic achiever who tries to solve every life problem with pure logic.

Beyond the script, director Oebanda pushes to introduce more artists into his films, with Bernardino as his latest musician to star in one of his pieces. Notably, artists Kean Cipriano and Klarisse de Guzman both starred in his 2025 sequel film “Bar Boys: After School.”

“Ngayon ko lang nakilala si Gian pero my respect for him and his work is immense,” he stated in an Instagram post. “I always find it easy to direct singers: Kean and Klarisse come to mind. Kasi natural na sa kanila ang emotion and performance and their dialogue is crisp. More importantly, Gian has been a long-term advocate for mental health.”
