Zsara Laxamana addresses the canceled reunion appearance and hopes to resolve tension with their idols.
VMX Babes member Zsara Laxamana revealed that the group’s planned guest appearance at the upcoming Viva Hot Babes reunion concert has been canceled.
The “Bulaklak” reunion concert is scheduled for October 23 at the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City, Cubao.
Speaking with the media on Tuesday for her upcoming VMX project “Masahe,” Laxamana said they were initially told by Boss Vic Del Rosario that VMX Babes would join the veteran group onstage.
“Ang pagkakaalam ko po ang sabi po ni Boss Vic may guesting nga daw po dapat talaga kami. Pero parang kinansel ng mga ate (Viva Hot Babes), pero okay lang po. Pupunta pa din po talaga kami para mag-support sa kanila or baka magbago ang isip nila,” she said.
Laxamana admitted that she and her fellow VMX Babes members were saddened by the cancellation, especially since they were looking forward to meeting and performing with the group they idolize.
“Actually ayoko magpaka-hipokrito, na-sad po talaga ako, lalo na ‘yong mga kasamahan ko sa VMX Babes. Kasi excited nga po kami na ma-meet ang mga ate,” she said.
The development comes after Laxamana previously remarked that VMX Babes was “better” than the original Viva Hot Babes. She later clarified that her statement had been taken out of context and stressed that she looks up to the veteran group.
“I don’t think I need to clarify it po kasi malinaw naman po ang sagot ko. It’s just that the media (misquoted me). Kina-cut talaga ‘yong ‘we are better’ pero may explanation po ‘yon and okay na po ‘yon,” she explained.
Laxamana also addressed the younger group’s name change from VMX Hot Babes to VMX Babes after the original members reportedly approached management about changing the name. She said they were surprised by the reaction, given that Viva Hot Babes has been an inspiration to them.
“Sad po since idol nga po namin ang mga ate. Parang kami, ‘ay hindi pala sila happy and proud na may mga bagong generation na sumusunod sa yapak nila,’” she said.
Despite the tension, Laxamana said VMX Babes used the criticism as motivation and remains hopeful that the rift between the two groups can eventually be resolved.
Meanwhile, veteran members Katya Santos, Maui Taylor, and Andrea del Rosario have also addressed the earlier “better” remark and encouraged the public to support both groups instead of pitting women against each other.
