VivaMax director Roman Perez Jr. responds to bit player Chelsea Ylore’s viral claims and the speculation linking them to Senator Raffy Tulfo, calling out narratives that unfairly tag VivaMax actresses with prostitution.
Director Roman Perez Jr. has come to the defense of VivaMax after bit player Chelsea Ylore drew public attention for claiming she once received a large tip from an unnamed senator.
Although Chelsea did not directly identify the lawmaker, online speculation later pointed to Senator Raffy Tulfo based on clues she mentioned in a podcast.
Perez, a leading figure in VivaMax’s bold-content films, firmly addressed how the controversy has once again dragged the streaming platform into the spotlight.
‘Shouldn’t be confused with escort service’
“Una sa lahat, ang context: We’re doing eroticas, we’re doing non-traditional entertainment and we’re doing sex films. Hindi tayo nagmamalinis pero ibang context kasi ‘yong usapin na ito,” he said, emphasizing that their work should not be confused with escort activities.
He questioned why the company’s name is frequently inserted into such controversies.
“Ang stand ko lang naman dito, Bakit palagi na ang dominant media ang headline nadadawit ang pangalan ng Vivamax? Bakit laging Vivamax star? Bakit laging ang entity ng Vivamax ay ginagamit sa mga headline na hindi naman dapat?” Perez stressed.
Perez reiterated that while he acknowledges the sensitive nature of their film genre, it does not justify associating VivaMax with prostitution.
Actresses with accomplished backgrounds
“Yes, medyo nasisira kasi. It’s a genre, a professional genre, na hinahaluan ng ibang konteksto, which is prostitution. At magkakaroon ng connotation na ang mga babae sa Vivamax ay gan’on, lahat ng ginagawa namin ay gan’on at puro pagpuputa,” he explained.
He added that many VivaMax actresses come from accomplished backgrounds.
“Ang point ko lang, ang ibang Vivamax ay Cum Laude, Beauty Queen, college graduate, ‘yong iba ay singer. Ibig sabihin na-i-iscreen ang mga babae and it’s just that na nag-talent ang babaeng iyan and hindi ko siya kilala at hindi ko siya nakatrabaho, but we’re being labels as part of one community,” Perez said.
Perez clarified that he holds no grudge against Senator Tulfo despite the issue dragging their names together.
“Wala akong pakialam kay Senator Tulfo. Ang sa akin lang, ipinagtatanggol ko lang ang side namin again with the Tulfo’s. Kay Senator bilib pa rin ako sa kanila. Wala akong pakialam sa kung anong party ang mayroon sila,” he stated. “Hindi ‘yon ang issue. Ang issue ay nasa bakuran namin na nagagamit sa kulturang ito para tumaas ang value ng mga escort girls, iyon lang ang nilinaw ko.”
The director’s remarks follow growing online debates about the boundaries between adult entertainment and escort culture—an association he insists is unfair and damaging to their profession.
Roman Perez reiterated that while he acknowledges the sensitive nature of their film genre, it does not justify associating VivaMax with prostitution.
