‘Don’t rush it:’ Fans urge Viva to delay ‘Pee Mak PH’ amid shooting concerns

Outraged netizens slam the studio’s rushed timeline and heavy workload for stars Wilbert Ross and Bea Binene.

Viva One has announced that “Pee Mak PH,” the local adaptation of the hit Thai horror-comedy, will hit cinemas on October 14, 2026. However, initial excitement quickly turned into backlash as fans urged the studio to push back the release date.

Starring Wilbert Ross and Bea Binene, the film faces criticism over its rushed production schedule, especially given the country’s unpredictable weather. Viewers are calling on Viva to prioritize the cast and crew’s safety and the overall quality of the movie.

“Please do not compromise the SAFETY of everyone involved and the QUALITY of the film just to meet the scheduled release date,” one fan wrote, adding that audiences are “very much WILLING to wait.”

Others questioned the film’s tight timeline compared to Viva’s other projects. “Bakit yung OYE (‘Our Yesterday’s Escape’) minomove n’yo? Bakit hindi n’yo gawin ngayon sa ‘PEE MAK PH?’” another commenter asked, suggesting a February 2027 release to allow proper time for post-production and promotion.

Given the legacy of the record-breaking Thai original, fans believe the adaptation deserves more care. “Hindi basta-basta movie ito… Syempre ‘di tayo magpapatalo!” one user noted.

Concerns were also raised about the cast’s ability to promote the film while still shooting. “Paano sila makakapagpromote nang maayos n’yan kung minamadali?” a netizen asked.

Many singled out Wilbert’s heavy workload, with one commenter pleading, “Wilbert needs proper scheduling for his own health. Maawa po kayo sa tao.” Another put it bluntly: “Gatas na gatas si Wilbert sa inyo.”

Adding to the scheduling web, co-star Gian Bernardino—the Cup of Joe frontman making his feature film debut—has a major concert slated for December.

For fans, the pushback isn’t about impatience; it’s about giving “Pee Mak PH” the time it needs to deliver a worthy adaptation.

Directed by Victor Villanueva and produced by Viva Films, “Pee Mak PH” stars Wilbert as Mak and Bea as Nak, alongside supporting cast members Vandolph, Jairus Aquino, TJ Valderrama, and Gian. The film remains scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on October 14, 2026.
