
The peso edged lower to snap its two-day recovery, while local equities tumbled over 100 points to sink deeper below the 5,900 mark.
The Philippine peso weakened by almost 2 centavos to close at ₱62.749 against the US dollar on Friday, September 18, 2026, reversing its recovery from the past two trading sessions.
The local currency reached an intraday low of ₱62.777, strengthening by around 7 centavos compared to the previous low of ₱62.69, as it remains above the ₱62 mark.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi), meanwhile, similarly fell 102.73 points, or 1.72%, to close at 5,855.91, once again dropping after temporary gains from the previous trading session. The index moved further below the 6,000 threshold.
