Moira dela Torre says misunderstandings led to fallout with former friends

Singer Moira dela Torre clarifies she never backstabbed anyone as she addresses lost industry friendships.

“I didn’t backstab anyone.” 

Singer-songwriter Moira Dela Torre has opened up about friendships in the entertainment industry that have changed over the years, including her decision to unfollow some people on social media and the fallout that ended her friendship with Sam Milby.

During a recent interview for her upcoming concert, “Where It All Started,” happening on October 4, Dela Torre addressed the controversy involving former friends who are no longer connected with her on social media. She explained that the situation stemmed from misunderstandings and conversations that never happened.

“I know that a lot of the things that happened had something to do with a lot of misunderstandings. We never got to talk about it,” she said.

The singer also clarified that she did not betray anyone after previously opening up to one of her close friends.

“I opened up to a close friend of mine. But I didn’t backstab anyone, not in that way. I wouldn’t do that. So, it was just one close friend, one. But it wasn’t that way,” she said.

She also acknowledged the role her previous management played during that period of her life and career.

“It was through my previous management which I’m very very grateful for. I wouldn’t be where I am now without them. I’m very thankful for them,” she added.

While Dela Torre did not reveal the specific details behind the falling-out, she became emotional as she expressed her continued love for her former friends and her hope that they can eventually make peace.

“Whatever happened between all of that I would like that to be between us because I still love them very much. I’m very happy for all of their successes and I’m so hopeful for our reconciliation someday. They didn’t do anything wrong. I’m sorry…” she said in tears.

Among the friendships that drew public attention was her relationship with Sam Milby. In early 2025, fans noticed that Milby was among the personalities who had unfollowed Dela Torre on Instagram.

Milby later confirmed that he and Dela Torre were no longer friends, although he opted not to disclose what caused their relationship to fall apart.

He also addressed speculation surrounding his breakup with Catriona Gray, clarifying that his falling-out with Dela Torre was unrelated to their separation and that the singer was not a third party in their relationship.

Despite the changes in some of her friendships, Dela Torre said she has also reached a more peaceful place with former husband Jason Hernandez.

“Yes, we are civil. And actually, we have been civil [for a while now]. I’m happy with the relationships that I have and that we all have. I’m happy that people have moved forward,” she shared.

Hernandez previously shared a similar sentiment about their current relationship during an interview with radar Entertainment at the Awit Awards.

“Of course. Eight months later, sinara na rin namin ’yon ni Moira. Actually, we’re okay. We talk, we’re very civil. Syempre, we’re not close but we’re very civil, very respectful with each other,” Hernandez said, adding that he wants Dela Torre to be happy.
