Ricky Lee, Vilma Santos-Recto, and Sharon Cuneta set to receive historic major honors on October 25.


Vice Ganda, Joshua Garcia, Piolo Pascual, Maricel Soriano, Nadine Lustre, and other major names in Philippine cinema are among the nominees for the 42nd Star Awards for Movies 2026, which will be held on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at Winford Hotel in Manila.

The Movie Actress of the Year category includes Mylene Dizon for “Habang Nilalamon Ng Hydra Ang Kasaysayan,” Nadine Lustre for “Call Me Mother,” Bela Padilla for “100 Awit Para Kay Stella,” Angelica Panganiban for “Unmarry,” Maris Racal for “Sunshine,” Charo Santos-Concio for “Only We Know,” and Maricel Soriano for “Meet Greet Bye.”

Competing for Movie Actor of the Year are JM De Guzman for “Lasting Moments,” Vice Ganda for “Call Me Mother,” Joshua Garcia for “Meet Greet Bye,” Baron Geisler for “The Delivery Rider,” Piolo Pascual for “Manila’s Finest,” Jericho Rosales for “Quezon,” and JC Santos for “Journeyman.”

The awards night will also mark a milestone for several industry veterans entering the Star Awards Hall of Fame.

Vilma Santos-Recto will receive the Hall of Fame recognition as Movie Actress of the Year after winning the category 10 times. She is the first artist to receive the Hall of Fame honor in the category.

National Artist Ricky Lee will likewise be inducted as Movie Screenwriter of the Year after 11 wins, while sound engineer Albert Michael Idioma will enter the Hall of Fame as Movie Sound Engineer of the Year after 16 wins.

The Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award will go to Sharon Cuneta, recognizing her decades-long contribution to the movie industry.

Actor Rez Cortez will also receive an Ulirang Artista recognition for his long career and involvement in the industry, including his concern for movie workers.

Producer Alex Muhlach will be honored with the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in producing films and his contributions to the industry.

PMPC Star Awards president Fernan de Guzman said the organization is grateful to the movie industry’s supporters and stakeholders. He also noted that this year marks the first time in the PMPC Star Awards’ history that artists will be elevated to the Hall of Fame.

The 42nd edition will also introduce a new category, Documentary Movie of the Year.

De Guzman serves as overall chairman of the executive committee, with former PMPC president Melba Llanera as chairman. Revival King Jojo Mendrez will produce the awards night under EV Production and Events, with Vivian Poblete Blancaflor as director.
