New PTV chief eyes rare industry-wide partnership to boost public service content and expand reach.
Fresh from assuming his post as general manager of PambansangTV, Lino Cayetano has announced plans to forge partnerships with some of the biggest media organizations, signaling a collaborative approach to expanding the reach and impact of the state-run network.
In a social media post on Thursday, Cayetano revealed that ABS-CBN, GMA, and TV5 have reached out to support PTV’s initiatives.
“I am happy to share that ABS-CBN, GMA, and Mediaquest’s TV5 have reached out to help us at PTV,” he said.
According to Cayetano, the PTV Board led by chair Victoria C. Recio, vice chair Prof. Antonio Contreras, and board member Atty. Joji Alonso has approved a resolution authorizing him to enter into partnerships with the three major media companies in line with the network’s public service mandate.
“To serve Filipinos better and remain engaged and relevant in their lives, we need multiple stakeholders at the table, working alongside the already outstanding and hardworking men and women of PTV,” he added.
The former Taguig City mayor and television director officially took the helm of the People’s Television Network after being appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier this month. He succeeds former acting PTV chief Maria Lourdes Choa-Fagar as the state broadcaster begins a new chapter focused on wider collaboration and public engagement.
