The actor-politician opens up about his 2025 election loss, faith, and why he’s finding purpose in “Kappa-tiran” and ABS-CBN’s “Roja.”

Ejay Falcon calls his 2025 congressional loss in Oriental Mindoro’s 2nd district a blessing in disguise, saying it was God’s way of protecting him.

The actor and public servant served as Vice Governor of Oriental Mindoro from 2022 to 2025 before conceding defeat to incumbent Congressman Alfonso Umal in the May 2025 elections. He opened up about the experience during the story conference of “Kappa-tiran,” a Mamay Production movie directed by Direk Neal Tan.

Tapos, na-realize mo, wala ka namang pera noong eleksyon,” he said.

That realization, he said, became clearer after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s SONA, when issues surrounding flood control projects and corruption surfaced.

He also expressed gratitude to Star Magic head Lauren Dyogi, whom he credits for helping him process the loss. “One time, nagkita kami after ng election.

When asked about alleged anomalies in flood control projects involving some DPWH officials and lawmakers, Ejay clarified that handling national funds was never part of his role as vice governor.

“National fund ’yan. ’Di talaga dumadaan sa amin. Kahit saan probinsya pa,” he said. “Ang pondo naman namin ay sa LGU.”

Many were surprised when Ejay ran for a congressional seat instead of seeking re-election as vice governor or aiming for the governorship. He explained that he believed the position would allow him to do more, especially for the youth and education sector.

“Mahal na mahal ko ’yan kasi diyan ako galing,” he said.

Despite losing the election, Ejay says he is not closing his doors to politics.

“Ayaw kong isara ang pintuan,” he said.

In uniform and intensity mode, Ejay Falcon commands the screen as Lt. Areza in the ABS-CBN series “Roja.”

For now, Ejay is focusing on his showbiz career. He currently plays Lt. Areza in the ABS-CBN action-drama series “Roja” and stars in “Kappa-tiran,” a film that tackles fraternity culture in the country.

“Hindi mo puwedeng talikuran ang propesyon mo,” he said. “At the same time, kapag nasa opisina ka at may humihingi ng tulong, saan mo kukunin ’yon?”

Ejay also shared his thoughts on fraternity-related violence, stressing the need for accountability and reform.

“Malungkot.

Happily married to his longtime partner Jana Roxas, Ejay said they are leaving plans of having a baby to God’s timing. “Naniniwala kami sa timing ng Panginoon,” he said. “Hopefully this year.”
