Aga Muhlach speaks out to defend daughter Atasha as she performs through injury in theater debut.
Proud parents Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez recently opened up about their daughter Atasha Muhlach’s theater journey in the musical “Bongga Ka ’Day: The Annie Batungbakal,” shedding light on the physical and emotional hurdles the young star has been navigating behind the scenes.
Following the show’s opening night, Aga revealed that Atasha has been performing despite a recent injury. “Na-sprain siya kagabi,” the actor shared, noting that she still pushed through the pain to get onstage.
He admitted that it is difficult for them to watch their daughter struggle at home, but his support remains steadfast.
“’You got this, Atasha,’” he recalled telling Atasha. “I’ve always believed in her.”
Beyond the physical toll, the seasoned actor also addressed the premature criticism aimed at his daughter before the curtains even opened. Learning that Atasha was hurt by the early judgments, Aga pointed out the unfairness of criticizing her before she had even performed.
“Wala pa nga, hindi pa nga nagpe-perform, nahuhusgahan na,” he said.
Taking a protective yet grounded stance, he brushed off the negativity, noting that “haters are gonna hate” and that detractors are simply part of the industry.
He then directed a sincere message to her critics. “Sa mga naninira sa kanya, galing sa isang ama po eh… nagtatrabaho lang ’yong bata… wala namang pinagyayabang.”
Charlene echoed this supportive sentiment, urging Atasha and other young dreamers to push past the noise.
“Don’t let anybody stop you from reaching for your dreams,” she encouraged, reminding them to simply “enjoy the journey” despite the inevitable ups and downs.
The couple’s ultimate advice to their daughter centers on maintaining grace and grit.
“Always remain humble and work hard, and continue to improve your talent,” Charlene said.
Ending the interview on a lighthearted note, Aga playfully hinted that he might catch the stage bug next, joking with the press, “Abangan n’yo ako mag-theater. Patay!”
