The actor admits falling asleep behind the wheel, injuring a pedestrian and destroying local storefronts on Sunday.
Actor Niño Muhlach has taken full responsibility for a vehicular accident in Antipolo City after falling asleep behind the wheel, injuring a pedestrian and damaging local establishments along Marcos Highway on Sunday afternoon, August 23.
The former child star was driving his SUV when it veered off the road, striking a man at a nearby eatery, running over a parked motorcycle, and crashing into two storefronts.
In an official statement, Muhlach directly corrected initial police findings attributing the crash to mechanical failure, admitting, “I want to be completely clear and honest: the accident was entirely my fault.”
He explained that an exhausting schedule caught up with him, causing him to doze off while driving because his regular driver was on a scheduled day off.
“While fatigue overtook me, that is no excuse,” Muhlach stressed, confirming he is taking full personal and legal accountability for the injuries and property destruction caused by his momentary lapse.
His primary focus now is covering the medical care, recovery, and support for the injured victim, as well as fully compensating the affected business owners for their losses.
Muhlach concluded with a direct apology to the victim and their family, confirming his complete cooperation with local authorities as the case is processed.
