Can AI read your dog’s mind? Silicon Valley startup Traini launches a ₱40,000 cognitive collar that interprets barks and body language with 94% accuracy.
Traini, a pet technology company based in Silicon Valley, is officially launching its most ambitious hardware product yet: a cognitive smart collar designed to interpret a dog’s emotional and psychological state.
Announced in December 2025, the US-based company’s collar uses generative AI to analyze a pet’s behavior in real time, with the goal of fostering better communication between dogs and their owners.
The brain behind the bark
The collar is powered by Traini’s core technology, the Pet Empathic Behavior Interface (PEBI). This system processes multimodal data, including audio, video, and behavioral signals, to assess how a dog is feeling.
Unlike “gimmick” translation apps, PEBI is a sophisticated multimodal AI engine that processes three synchronized streams of data:
- Audio (The What): Analyzes vocalizations like barks, whines, and growls to detect tone and pitch.
- Visual (The How): Tracks body language, ear position, and tail movement via the companion app’s camera integration.
- Sensor Data (The Why): Monitors physiological vitals, including heart rate, temperature, and activity levels
Trained on 2 million dogs
The device boasts a 94% success rate in recent trials, and its accuracy is rooted in a massive dataset. The AI models have been trained on behavioral data from more than 2 million dogs across nearly 120 breeds, alongside insights from scientific studies in animal behavior.
Beyond the home: veterinary and car integration
Traini also has applications for veterinary clinics and integrations with other hardware like smartphones and in-car systems.
Makers are also positioning the collar as a preventative wellness tool. By identifying subtle shifts in a dog’s “emotional baseline,” the system can flag early signs of anxiety or physical pain before they become obvious to the human eye.
The device is currently available for pre-order via the Traini app and website, retailing at approximately $700 (₱40,000).
This innovation is an example of the Aided by AI: Embedding assistive intelligence into consumers’ lives trend by TrendWatching.com. Once the subject of experiments in computer science labs, artificial intelligence (AI) has since moved into the lives of everyday consumers and is now powering various daily interactions, from Zoom backgrounds to smart speakers that can understand local dialects. There are already endless opportunities to add value into consumers’ lives via AI—think delivering convenience, boosting productivity, offering personalization, and even injecting some fun and delight. Expect even more to emerge in the coming years.
Traini launches the first generative AI smart collar for dogs. Using PEBI technology and data from 2 million pets, this collar decodes emotions like anxiety and joy in real-time.
