A Filipino-developed website empowers consumers to compare grocery and wet market produce based on accurate price information.

Keeping track of grocery prices has become part of everyday survival for many Filipinos. One website is now helping consumers cut through the guesswork by showing where essentials cost less in real time.

AnoMura tracks the prices of everyday goods so consumers can plan their shopping and better manage household expenses, presenting information that is often stressful and overwhelming in a simpler format.

All-in-one price tracker

AnoMura provides accurate prices of meat, rice, vegetables, and fruits and monitors how these rates change over time, helping users decide whether to buy now or wait for better deals.

Rates are sourced from the Department of Agriculture’s daily suggested retail price list.

Users can compare prices between local wet markets and SM Hypermarket branches to see where better deals are available.

The website also has a “My List” feature that allows users to track frequently purchased grocery items and estimate spending before heading out.

Users can subscribe to a daily newsletter to receive alerts on select grocery items when prices drop.

Turning everyday problems into practical solutions

Site developer Geian Denorte conceptualized AnoMura with friends in 2021, initially sharing it among loved ones and online communities like the Quarantine Tribute Tips Facebook group.

“It started as a personal problem. I went to the palengke to buy produce, and I felt like I was being scammed with the prices. I don’t go to the palengke frequently, so I had no idea what things should cost anymore. I wanted to haggle, but I didn’t even know the right SRP to base it on,” he told radar Business.

When Denorte released the website publicly on February 19, users suggested adding fuel prices and EV charging rates, expanding the platform’s usefulness beyond groceries.

The website’s programming is also open source for other developers to likewise explore its features and suggest changes to be made.

As food and transport costs fluctuate, tools like AnoMura give households more control over spending while helping small businesses and vendors track market prices. By turning official data into practical insights, the platform makes price transparency accessible to everyone.
