The bold fusion of recycled plastic and gold leaf that turned BINI’s Coachella debut into a global fashion milestone.

Filipino girl group BINI is making waves on the global fashion stage after being included in Vogue’s roundup, “The Best Celebrity Coachella Outfits of 2026 So Far,” written by Christian Allaire.

The list, which highlights standout festival fashion moments from international stars like Lisa, Justin Bieber, and Kendall Jenner, signals a major milestone for the P-pop act as they step into the same spotlight as some of the biggest names in global entertainment.

BINI’s inclusion is not just about star power—it’s about craftsmanship and cultural storytelling.

Designed by Filipino creative Job Dacon, the group’s Coachella outfits fused high fashion with sustainability and heritage. Each piece incorporated 20 to 25 sheets of real gold leaf and around two pounds of recycled plastic per member—an ambitious combination of luxury and eco-conscious design.

The looks were built on beige denim base garments by Marian Zara, then elevated with intricate filigree details inspired by calado carvings commonly seen in traditional Filipino homes. Adding another layer of cultural reference, the team created custom molds based on the endemic Bantayan Island scallop, translating local identity into wearable art.

One of the most painstaking processes involved melting recycled plastic and shaping it into molds before applying gold leaf by hand—element by element—resulting in pieces that are as technically impressive as they are visually striking.

For Dacon, the project represents more than just stagewear. It is a “meeting point of ingenuity and sustainability on an international stage,” as BINI brought Filipino design sensibilities to Coachella—one of the world’s most influential music and fashion platforms.

With their Vogue recognition, BINI not only joins the ranks of global style icons but also underscores the growing visibility of Filipino talent in both music and fashion—proving that cultural authenticity can stand shoulder to shoulder with international trends.
