From hidden BGC speakeasies to the “Chocolate Castle” of Cubao, these legendary establishments are serving their final orders this December.
Even the most familiar names can have their final curtain. In 2025, several beloved Philippine food and drink spots closed their doors, and for some, the announcements sparked waves of online reaction.
From a hidden speakeasy in BGC to long-running family cafes and lakefront bistros, these closures remind us that, no matter the following, history, or love a brand has built, shutting down is sometimes an unavoidable part of running a business.
1. Bank Bar (BGC)
Final Day: December 27, 2025
For nearly a decade, Bank Bar has been one of Metro Manila’s most talked-about hidden spots. Tucked inside a 7‑Eleven in Bonifacio Global City, it became known for inventive cocktails, Instagram-worthy drinks, and its clever speakeasy concept.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, the team reflected on their journey:
“Ten years ago, we opened a secret door that led to countless cocktail-filled evenings. We set out to create a hidden sanctuary that felt both exclusive and alive. While it is the end of an era, reaching this milestone feels like the natural point to conclude the Bank Bar story. Thank you for being the most essential part of an unforgettable decade. Cheers to you, and all the tipples we shared here together.”
Bank Bar confirmed that its final day of operation will be December 27, 2025. Over the years, it earned a reputation as a clever hideout, as well as a place where thoughtfully crafted drinks made every visit memorable. Patrons will surely miss its signature cocktail, the Nutter Club—a mix of London dry gin, Trinidadian Angostura bitters, lemon-pistachio meringue, and a pistachio salt rim.
2. Chocolate Lover Inc. (Cubao)
Final Day: December 27, 2025
A long-standing Cubao, Quezon City favorite, Chocolate Lover Inc. has been a go-to for bakers and pastry enthusiasts for 36 years. Owner Annie Carmona-Lim announced that December 27, 2025 will be the store’s final day.
Carmona-Lim made the difficult decision after none of her children expressed interest in taking over the business, despite her efforts to sell it. She founded the shop in 1989 with just ₱6,000, growing it into a beloved local landmark known for its wide range of baking supplies and its role in inspiring generations of home bakers and professionals alike.
3. Buon Giorno! Cafe & Bistro (Tagaytay)
Final Day: December 31, 2025
After 20 years of serving Italian dishes with a stunning view of Taal Lake, Buon Giorno! announced it will close on December 31, 2025. The café encouraged patrons to savor their favorites one last time, from the indulgent apple strudel ala mode to hearty pasta dishes and memorable family meals that had become part of countless celebrations and everyday moments.
“It has been our greatest joy to be part of your special moments,” the café shared on Facebook, highlighting the many memories, milestones, and cherished gatherings that patrons had created there over two decades. For locals and visitors alike, Buon Giorno! was more than a restaurant—it was a place where food, friends, and memories intertwined.
In 2025, several beloved Philippine food and drink destinations shut their doors, leaving behind memories of inventive cocktails, long-running family cafés, and scenic lakefront meals.
