Her fiancé, Reginald Santos, has quickly become the subject of public curiosity as details about his background and long-standing connection to Carla resurface.
Santos has been quietly linked to the Kapuso actress in recent months, especially as talk of an engagement circulated on social media. But their story goes back much further.
In a column published on Aug. 4, 2022, Cristy Fermin recalled meeting Santos during a visit to Diliman Doctors Hospital. There, she learned that Carla and Reginald were once classmates at OB Montessori Greenhills.
The same column mentioned that the two reportedly dated for more than two years when they were younger before parting ways, though they stayed in touch as friends. Carla’s appearance at DDH events, such as the grand opening of the hospital’s Center for Wellness on Oct. 18, 2023, only added to speculation about their renewed closeness.
Santos’ professional background paints a picture of a seasoned and steadily rising medical practitioner. He passed the Physician Licensure Examination in August 2013 and began practicing shortly afterward, consistent with the “12 years of experience” indicated on his SeriousMD profile.
His career has been closely tied to Diliman Doctors Hospital in Quezon City, where he has held several key roles through the years. While SeriousMD identifies him as head of the Emergency Department, reflecting his early involvement in emergency medicine, DDH’s official posts reveal his broader path within the institution.
A post from October 2022 described Santos as the hospital’s assistant administrative officer, signaling his shift toward leadership and governance. Over time, he expanded his responsibilities, taking on roles in both clinical oversight and operational management when he became head of Patient Safety while still serving as assistant administrative officer.
By September 2024, DDH commemorated World Patient Safety Day and highlighted Santos as holding both positions simultaneously. Soon after, his career reached another milestone: in November 2024, he was appointed chief medical officer, joining the hospital’s Management Committee and taking charge of medical standards, healthcare quality, and policy development.
Today, Santos continues to serve as DDH’s chief medical officer, marking over a decade of dedication to the medical field and now stepping into a new chapter of his personal life with Carla Abellana.
