‘UnMarry’ child actor breaks Russian hearts.

Jeffrey Jeturian’sUnMarry” is making waves overseas, and it’s the youngest cast member who’s stealing the spotlight.

At its screening at the 48th Moscow International Film Festival, audiences couldn’t get enough of Zac Sibug, who plays Elio, the child of characters portrayed by Zanjoe Marudo and Solenn Heussaff.

Jeturian shared that the 13-year-old newcomer moved the crowd in a near-full screening, with viewers laughing and tearing up at all the right moments. During the Q&A, a Russian actress even singled out Sibug, asking about his age and how he was cast.

A breakout star in Moscow

“It’s his first acting job but he had to undergo a workshop before facing the cameras,” Jeturian said, adding with a laugh that Sibug is also the producer’s grandson. “The production was lucky that the kid can act—and how!”

Despite cultural differences, the story clearly translated, said Jeturian, with Russian audiences embracing the film’s emotional beats, and Zac leading the charge.

Following its strong reception in Russia, “UnMarry” heads to the US for its next stop at the WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival this weekend.
