Diesel faces nearly ₱4/L hike as fuel prices rise again on August 18

Gasoline and kerosene also rise, reversing last week’s broad fuel price rollback

The brief break at the pump is over, with fuel prices headed higher again on Tuesday, August 18, led by a ₱3.84 per liter increase for diesel.

Based on the Department of Energy’s computation, gasoline is also expected to increase by ₱2.49 per liter, while kerosene will see the biggest hike at ₱5.01 per liter.

As of press time, oil companies have yet to release their respective advisories ahead of the scheduled 6 a.m. implementation on August 18. While the actual adjustments could still vary by company and fuel product, oil firms have generally followed or stayed close to the DOE-computed figures in previous price adjustments.

If the DOE-computed increases are implemented, diesel is expected to average around ₱92.92 per liter after the adjustment, up from around ₱89.08 currently. Gasoline, meanwhile, is projected to average around ₱81.79 per liter, from about ₱79.30 currently.

The latest increase comes just a week after diesel, gasoline and kerosene all posted rollbacks of more than ₱4 per liter, reversing much of the relief motorists got at the pump.
