The Unkabogable Star’s ‘It’s Showtime’ absence sparked crossover buzz—but it’s fake.

For a few days, the Philippine “Drag Race” fandom (known as the Binibinis) was convinced a major shift was coming to the judging panel. Speculation reached a fever pitch on X (formerly Twitter) as fans began connecting dots between Vice Ganda’s recent absences from It’s Showtime and the rumored taping window for Drag Race Philippines Season 4.

The narrative felt perfect: the country’s most influential LGBTQ+ icon joining the world’s biggest drag platform. However, the “Unkabogable” crossover has officially been labeled as fan fiction.

Insiders pull the plug on the hype

As the rumors began to be treated as fact, key figures behind the scenes stepped in to clear the air. Remz Mallari, the show’s casting director, and renowned designer Job Dacon—both deeply embedded in the DRPH production ecosystem—took to social media to shut down the claims. Their message was simple: the rumors are untrue.

Why the rumor gained traction

The buzz wasn’t entirely baseless in the eyes of fans. Vice Ganda has long been a vocal supporter of the local drag scene, frequently featuring DRPH queens on It’s Showtime and at her own bar, O Bar. Furthermore, the “absence-implies-taping” logic has historically been a reliable way for fans to track the movements of Drag Race judges and contestants globally.

The wait for season 4 continues

While Vice Ganda won’t be taking a permanent seat next to Paolo Ballesteros or KaladKaren this time around, the debunking hasn’t dampened the excitement for the upcoming season. If anything, the fervor proves that the appetite for high-tier guest judges is at an all-time high.

For now, the Werk Room remains Vice-free, but as any fan of the franchise knows, never say never for a future guest appearance.
