Free kidney screening set in Taytay this August

A free kidney screening program in Taytay is giving residents a chance to understand their kidney health, identify possible risks early, and seek care before complications become more serious.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) often develops silently, with many people unaware they have it until symptoms appear or the condition has already progressed. In the Philippines, an estimated 13 million Filipinos are living with CKD, highlighting the need for early detection and preventive care.

Through the “Iwas Dialysis, Ligtas Kidneys: Get CheCKD Habang Maaga Pa!” program, the Taytay local government, in partnership with Boehringer Ingelheim Philippines and with support from Angat Taytay, is bringing free kidney health screening closer to communities.

The initiative has reached nearly 4,000 residents in just two months through screening activities held at barangays, schools, public facilities, and other community locations. By making screening more accessible, the program helps residents learn about their kidney health and take action earlier.

The effort also supports broader public health goals by strengthening preventive care at the community level and helping Filipino families access important health services closer to home.

More Taytay residents can still take part in the upcoming free kidney screening activities scheduled this August. Screening locations include:

• August 8 – 30 – Brgy. San Isidro
• August 9 – 29 – Brgy. Dolores
• August 23 – Sitio Tagumpay
• August 29 – Sitio Bayabas Purok 1
• August 30 – Sitio Bayabas Purok 5

Residents are encouraged to visit these locations, get screened, and learn more about their kidney health. Early action can help protect both health and household finances from the heavy costs linked to late-stage kidney disease.
