Some customers allege orders remain unfulfilled with little to no updates from the furniture chain
Customers of IKEA Philippines have reported waiting weeks for home deliveries, with some saying their orders have been delayed for nearly a month and updates from the furniture giant have been hard to come by.
Many of them have taken to social media to seek answers, with delays first reported in May and another influx of complaints over the past month.
“Paid IKEA Philippines for Express Delivery, but the promised delivery window passed with no delivery, no SMS, and barely any update. Paid extra for a service that wasn’t provided. Not acceptable,” wrote one Threads user on August 16.
Another customer also reported on Threads that a home delivery originally scheduled for July 11 was suddenly moved to July 20, with the update issued only on the day of the new delivery.
Customers report a lack of updates from the company beyond order confirmations. While IKEA provides general lead times for deliveries, customers allegedly do not receive any communication confirming a specific delivery date.
IKEA Philippines acknowledged delays in deliveries in May, apologizing to customers for the delay. “We are currently experiencing issues in truck deliveries. Our team is working hard to deliver your home furnishings as soon as possible,” the company said in an Instagram post on May 12.
IKEA’s current website says truck deliveries take 3 to 7 days within Metro Manila and the Greater Manila Area, 7 to 13 days in other parts of Luzon, 16 to 24 days in the Visayas, and 21 to 24 days in parts of Mindanao. Express delivery is also available for ₱999 in Metro Manila and select areas, with same-day or next-day delivery.
The company also provides an online tracking tool that allows customers to check the real-time status of their truck or parcel delivery. IKEA notes, however, that it is currently working on the accuracy of its order-status information.
Since launching in the Philippines in late 2021, IKEA has cited XDE Logistics as its domestic contract partner. Customers on other e-commerce platforms whose deliveries were handled by the logistics company similarly report delays and a lack of updates.
Customers in similar situations should keep records of their order confirmation, payment, promised delivery window, and any communication with IKEA. These documents can help support a formal complaint or request for a remedy if an order remains unfulfilled.
radar has reached out to IKEA Philippines for comment and will update this story as soon as the company responds.
