For lolos and lolas, it’s never too late to learn something new.
After a lifetime of adapting to change, lolos and lolas are doing it again, this time with smartphones, digital services, and a world where more of everyday life is happening online.
More than 600 senior citizens in Makati took part in Globe’s Senior Digizen Program, learning how to navigate digital services, recognize potential scams, and protect themselves online. The program was also brought to seniors in Taguig.
These are practical skills that can make a real difference. Knowing how to recognize a suspicious message, protect personal information, or navigate an online service can help seniors stay safer while giving them greater confidence and independence in an increasingly digital world.
During the sessions, they asked questions, tried things for themselves, and showed that
learning does not stop at any age. For many, technology is simply the latest change they are learning to navigate.
“We want our seniors to know that there is a place for them in the digital world and that they can continue to learn at their own pace,” said Carl Cruz, Globe President and CEO. “Senior Digizen is one way we can help them become more comfortable with technology and more importantly, give them the confidence to use it in ways that are useful to them.”
The Senior Digizen sessions were part of Globe’s GDay 2026, which brought more than 800 Ka-Globe volunteers into communities across the country. Volunteers repacked family food packs with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, prepared and served meals through SOS Rescue Kitchen, joined feeding and reading activities with Ayala Foundation, and spent time with children and young people in partner institutions, while employees also pledged ₱2.7 million to support these efforts.
For the lolos and lolas who joined Senior Digizen, the experience was another reminder that it is never too late to learn, adapt, and take on something new.
