AI opens new opportunities for Filipinos to learn, create, work, and stay safer online. At SM City Baguio, children and senior citizens explored those possibilities together, turning a fast-growing technology into a practical conversation for families and the wider community.
In partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology Cordillera Administrative Region (DICT-CAR), SM City Baguio held an interactive learning session that introduced participants to responsible AI use, digital creativity, and online safety. The activity gave young learners a chance to see how technology can support their ideas beyond the classroom.

Ten-year-old Jacob Jimenez, a Grade 5 student, tried an AI-powered game and created an app during the session. “I want to know more about AI because it is futuristic technology,” he said. His experience showed how early exposure can encourage students to explore digital tools with curiosity while building skills that can support their future studies and careers.
Senior citizens also gained useful knowledge they can apply at home and online. The discussion covered scam awareness and the risks that can come with digital platforms. Senior participant Cheryl Alquiza said the session helped attendees better understand why they need to be more alert. “Sometimes, we are very vulnerable to scams,” she said.
DICT-CAR Engineer Katherine Aguilar said the gathering proved that technology can include everyone. “From kids to seniors, it only goes to show na yung technology ay walang pinipiling edad. Very inclusive siya,” she said.
Through this initiative, SM City Baguio is creating a community space where people can build digital confidence together. Beyond shopping and entertainment, the mall is helping make technology more accessible to students, parents, and seniors who will use it every day.
