Owner moves sales online as physical store remains closed following armed robbery that saw suspects take jewelry worth at least ₱20 million.
Jewelry Access Co. will keep its business running despite losing an estimated ₱20 million worth of jewelry in an armed robbery at its Malolos, Bulacan shop, with the owner moving operations online and prioritizing the safety of her staff.
In a Facebook statement, the shop said its first priority is checking on its guards and staff, who were reportedly still shaken and traumatized by the incident.
The robbery reportedly lasted only about two minutes and involved five armed suspects who allegedly took at least ₱20 million worth of rings, necklaces, bracelets, and precious stones from the store.
The owner said employees initially apologized for failing to protect the store’s inventory, but she told them that their safety was more important than the jewelry taken.
Despite the loss, Jewelry Access Co. said it would continue accepting pre-orders and conducting live selling, allowing the business to maintain its sales operations while the physical store remains temporarily closed to walk-in customers.
Customers with layaway arrangements and orders scheduled for shipping were also assured that their items remain safe, according to the business.
The arrangement allows the company to continue serving customers while repairs and other measures are made at the physical shop, where the owner said employee safety would remain a priority.
Police have since arrested four suspects in separate operations, while authorities said some of the stolen jewelry had already been offered for sale online.
The owner said she intends to recover the financial loss and vowed to keep the business operating.
The incident also highlights the risks businesses and their employees can face simply by keeping a physical store open, from the loss of valuable inventory to the threat of violence. For Jewelry Access Co., the priority now is to recover from the financial hit while making sure the people behind the business are safe.
