Joey Mead King inspires women to rise above ageism

“I’ve been affected by ageism lately… it dictated my career life in the fashion industry,” she wrote. “Turning 30 in NYC, I felt that I was done, when I was nowhere near it.”

Looking back on her career as a model turned event and TV show host, she shared:

“At 37-40, I was model mentor for ANTM and continued hosting elite events internationally till 45 years old and had to reset when the pandemic hit.”

Defying the expiration date

Now at her current age, she admitted that she still receives ageist comments, but uses them as motivation to achieve her body goals.

“So at 51, I do still receive ageism comments… but I also don’t give a f and continue to push away what society thinks a woman should be and act in her seasoned years,” she said.

As she ended her post, she also cheered on other women and uplifted them.

“It’s an honor to age… so to my fellow gals in your 20’s, 30’s and beyond, take heed when I say: You are relevant… you are important… may you uplift fellow sheroes and know that age should not dictate one’s value,” she wrote.

Joey is married to entrepreneur and car enthusiast Angelina Mead King, who came out as a transgender woman in 2016. Both passionate animal lovers, the couple live in their home with their pet dogs, cats, and horses.
