The OPM legend launches new track, co-created with Mon del Rosario, to celebrate Filipino unity and matatag (Resilient) heritage at  Tanghalang Pasigueño

Tanghalang Pasigueño was filled with emotion, support, unity, and national pride during the recent grand launch of the anthem “Pilipino Tayo.”

Filipinos from all walks of life, regardless of political affiliation or background, gathered to celebrate a song meant to bring everyone together.

The anthem, performed by renowned singer and OPM legend Imelda Papin and co-created with Mon del Rosario, immediately resonated with the audience. Opening with the lines, “Pilipino Ako, Pilipino Tayo… Oh! Pilipino Tayo…,” the song instantly evoked love for the country and pride in being Filipino.

A message of deep love and steadfast conviction

During her performance, Papin continued: “Ako ay Pilipino, malalim kung magmahal… hindi tumatalikod sa krusada ng kapayapaan… Sa aking mga magulang ako ay magalang…”

The pre-chorus, “Kahit labi ko ay may ngiti, kahit tinig ko ay may lambing…”, created a quiet, reflective moment in the auditorium before the audience erupted in applause at the chorus: “‘Di mo mabibili, bakal ang paninindigan… Pilipino Ako!”

Many attendees were visibly moved, feeling nostalgia and recalling cherished memories of childhood, family, and Filipino traditions.

Papin’s call for unity
