Julie Anne gets backing from Yeng, Gloc-9 as new coaches on ‘The Voice Kids’

Yeng Constantino and Gloc-9 are officially joining “The Voice Kids” as first-time coaches alongside returning coach Julie Anne San Jose for the singing competition’s newest season on GMA Network.

For Yeng, landing a red chair marks a career milestone she has long hoped to achieve.

“Siyempre po bilang isang mang-aawit, ’yong maging coach ka ng ‘The Voice,’ isa ‘yan sa mga checklist na gusto mong magawa sa iyong career and I’m just so grateful na ibinigay ito ng Panginoon in His right time,” she said.

Her appointment also sparked discussion among longtime viewers, with many pointing out that despite previously serving as a judge on “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” and a resident hurado on “It’s Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan,” she was never tapped as a coach during “The Voice Philippines’” run on ABS-CBN.

“Tagal na nasa ABS-CBN ang ‘The Voice,’ ‘di man lang nila naisip kunin si Yeng kahit nung last seasons nila,” one netizen wrote.

Meanwhile, Gloc-9 said he also expects to learn from the experience despite being called a coach.

“Siguro kahit tawag nila sa akin coach dito, I’m sure marami akong matutunan sa aking mga fellow coaches, siyempre si Julie, si Yeng at ’yong mae-encounter and mami-meet naming mga batang singers.”

With Julie Anne returning and Yeng and Gloc-9 making their coaching debuts, “The Voice Kids” is set to introduce a fresh dynamic as the three OPM stars mentor the country’s next generation of young singers.
