Meralco customers in Metro Manila will pay ₱0.3428 more per kWh in July as generation charges, taxes, and other fees push up monthly power bills.
Metro Manila residents will pay more for electricity in July, with Meralco charging an additional ₱0.3428 per kilowatt-hour due to higher generation, transmission, and other charges.
The concessionaire announced on July 10 that the overall household rate will increase to ₱14.4833 per kWh this month, from ₱14.1405 in June.
For residential customers with an average consumption of 200 kWh, the hike means an increase of ₱69 in the total bill.
Generation charges saw the highest increase this month as fuel prices continue to fluctuate amid global conflict-related supply chain woes. Fees went up by ₱0.1800 per kWh to ₱9.2504, from ₱9.0704 in June.
Consumer taxes also contributed to the hike, increasing by ₱0.0960 per kWh, due to higher charges related to producers’ use of liquefied natural gas. Transmission and other fees also went up by ₱0.0668.
Electricity rates had been on a consecutive hike since February of this year, with a temporary reprieve in May.
