The Philippines’ first cancer specialty hospital is being eyed as part of the country’s medical tourism push, with AC Health looking to welcome international patients as the government ramps up efforts to grow the sector.
The Department of Tourism (DoT) is promoting the Philippines as a medical tourism destination by attracting travelers through quality healthcare services that may not be available or easily accessible in their home countries.
At the International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress last June, the DoT said medical tourism accounted for 23% of the country’s total health and wellness revenue in 2024, reaching $1.26 billion (₱77.7 billion). The agency aims to grow the sector to $16.3 billion (₱1.0 trillion) by 2030.
AC Health chief health officer Dr. Beverly Ho said the company is in talks with the DoT to include Healthway Cancer Care Hospital in the country’s medical tourism initiative.
Healthway Cancer Care Hospital is the Philippines’ first hospital specializing in cancer care. Opened in 2023, the facility in Taguig City brings together veteran oncologists and specialists and offers a range of financing options for economically disadvantaged patients.
