The rock vocalist urges fans to check on friends and prioritize mental health awareness.

Jay Contreras used the Kamikazee stage to deliver a serious reminder about mental health, urging fans to look beyond appearances and check on the people around them.

During the recent TEETH 2026 reunion concert, the Kamikazee frontman told the crowd, “Ilang beses na ’kong muntikan na… Napakaimportante niyan kaya ‘wag niyo babalewalain ’yan.”

He followed with a direct appeal, “Kumustahin n’yo lagi mga kaibigan n’yo.”

The remarks came as a striking shift from Contreras’ usual high-energy and comedic stage persona, drawing attention from fans who appreciated his willingness to use his platform for mental health awareness.

Contreras has delivered similar reminders at previous performances. During Kamikazee’s set at the “Lubao International Balloon and Music Festival,” he encouraged concertgoers to remember that people who appear happy or tough may still be facing silent struggles.

The singer has also faced health challenges in the past. In late 2015, Contreras briefly stepped away from Kamikazee to undergo surgery for a cyst in his throat. While some fans have speculated about whether the experience affected his mental well-being, Contreras has not publicly confirmed such a connection or disclosed a specific mental health diagnosis.

His public remarks have instead centered on awareness, empathy, and encouraging people to reach out to loved ones.
