Kim Chiu’s past interview about sister outdated amid ongoing case, says Star Magic

Agency clarifies timeline as resurfaced clip predates actress’ criminal complaint vs sister Lakambini amid ongoing legal case.

Kim Chiu’s camp has issued a statement addressing the circulation of an old interview in which the actress and TV host spoke about her sister, Lakambini Chiu, against whom she has since filed a criminal complaint.

Star Magic, the talent management arm of ABS-CBN that represents Chiu, released the statement after the clip resurfaced online. In a statement issued Thursday, the agency clarified that the footage was recorded in 2023 and no longer reflects the current situation.

“Star Magic, on behalf of Ms. Kim Chiu, wishes to issue the following statement for the guidance of the public. In 2023, an interview of Kim regarding her sister was recorded and is currently being viewed by the public. While the statements made by Kim at the time were true and reflected the circumstances then, they no longer represent the present situation,” the statement read.

The agency added that new information emerged in 2025, prompting the actress to take legal action.

“Since then, Kim has discovered material information that came to light in 2025, which prompted her to take legal action. As a result, a criminal complaint filed by Kim against Ms. Lakambini Chiu is currently pending before the proper authorities.

Kim remains firm in her decision to pursue the case through the proper legal process to establish the truth, hold responsible parties accountable, and seek justice,” it added.

Star Magic said the statement was issued to clarify the timeline and prevent misunderstandings caused by the resurfaced interview.

“This statement is issued solely to clarify the timeline of events and to avoid any misunderstanding arising from previously recorded statements. As the matter is now subject to ongoing legal proceedings, we respectfully ask for the public’s understanding and for Kim’s privacy to be respected while the case takes its proper course.”

The agency concluded by thanking the public for its continued support.

In December, Kim Chiu filed a qualified theft complaint against her sister after allegedly discovering financial discrepancies involving their business.
