Kyline Alcantara opens up about rising costs, a deeply personal initiative, and why she chooses sincerity over spotlight.

In the middle of rising fuel costs and growing power concerns, Kyline Alcantara is choosing a quieter path: one rooted in awareness, restraint, and something deeply personal.

The actress admits the ongoing energy crisis has reshaped her daily routine. Like many households, hers has had to adjust.

“Of course, it affects you,” she told radar Entertainment during her launch as the brand ambassador of the demi-fine jewelry brand KLAD on Wednesday.

“Instead of going out a lot, we try to limit it… it also affects all the expenses in the house, so we make sure everything is unplugged when not in use.”

But beyond tightening routines and cutting back, Kyline reveals she is working on a personal outreach initiative, one she’s intentionally keeping under wraps for now. Not out of secrecy, but sincerity.

“It’s just a personal project… not sponsored by anyone,” she explained. “I don’t want it to sound like it’s for publicity.”

At the heart of it is a tribute to her grandfather, a former jeepney driver in Bicol. Inspired by his story, Kyline is planning an outreach effort for drivers in Quezon City—one of the sectors most affected by rising fuel prices.

It’s a cause she holds close, but also one she approaches with caution. “I try to be aware,” she pointed out. “But right now, I’m not confident enough to really talk about it because I’m still learning.”

Real-world grit meets Hollywood glam

Despite her good intentions, Kyline admits she treads carefully, acknowledging the pressure and fear of public backlash.

That self-awareness extends to how she navigates public opinion. For Kyline, intention matters, but so does perception. “It’s tiring to get bashed,” she admitted. “I’m afraid people might think I’m using what’s happening in the country for publicity.”

Still, her actions speak louder than hesitation. Even before this initiative, Kyline has quietly supported causes, often choosing to mark milestones like her birthday through charity work instead of celebrations.

Away from the weight of real-world concerns, Kyline finds moments of lightness in simple pleasures, like summer.

Her perfect summer? “Low gas price!” she joked, before adding, “With friends, with family… by the beach, while working… because we all need work right now more than ever.”

Even at the beach, she keeps her signature style intact. Jewelry, she says, is non-negotiable.

“I usually wear rings, necklaces, and studs. Bracelets, baka kasi mawala,” she said, laughing. “I just cannot live without my rings… They really keep me confident.”

Kyline gears up for action in “Firewall,” training in boxing and Muay Thai for her most physically demanding role yet.

Work, however, is never far behind. Kyline is currently preparing for her upcoming show, “Firewall,” which demands a more physically intense routine.

“I do Pilates… and for ‘Firewall,’ I’m doing boxing and Muay Thai,” she shared. “That helped in my fitness.”

Beyond physical preparation, Kyline also took time for spiritual grounding during Holy Week. Inspired by online devotionals, she shared her cover of the Bruno Mars song, “Risk It All,” offering as a form of reflection.

“I saw videos dedicating songs to God… so I thought of recreating that,” she says. “It’s like, I’ll ‘risk it all’ for Jesus.”

She also completed the tradition of visiting the Seven Churches in Batangas with her family, followed by a well-earned beach break. “That’s why I’m glowing,” she declared.

I don’t want to talk much about it because it might sound like publicity. I don’t want it to be like that. But it’s an homage to my grandfather, who was a jeepney driver before in Bicol.
