“Wakas at Simula” drops worldwide on March 27.
For SB19’s “Pinuno” Pablo, their upcoming sophomore album, “Wakas at Simula,” comes with reflection—and uncertainty.
“This is our eighth year,” Pablo told select media, including radar, in a media conference on Monday, March 23. “Siyempre, kapag ganito ka na katagal, parang iniisip mo o cinocontemplate mo na rin kung ano ba ‘yong next chapter, kung matatapos na ba ‘yong grupo, kung ano na ang mangyayari sa amin,”
Pablo added that whatever and wherever they are now, it’s because of fans who have supported them since Day 1: “We want to celebrate and, at the same time, come back to everything that we have done—kasama ang mga tao na sumsuporta sa amin.”
SB19 debuted in 2018 with “Tilaluha,” but it was a year later, with “Go Up,” that turned it into a P-pop powerhouse with a global following.
Framed the “closure of one era” and the start of a new chapter, “Wakas at Simula” brings together the group’s EP trilogy—”Pagsibol,” “Pagtatag,” and “Simula at Wakas”—alongside six new tracks. It includes collaborations with C-pop icon JOLIN in “Emoji” and J-pop act BE:FIRST in “Toyfriend.”
The album drops worldwide on Friday, March 27—followed by a concert on April 18 at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque.
As SB19 prepares to release their highly anticipated sophomore album “Wakas at Simula,” leader Pablo opens up about the group’s eight-year journey, the evolution of P-pop, and the “new chapter” awaiting the Kings of P-pop following their upcoming April concert.
