Providers cite delayed reimbursements behind non-renewal as patients are advised to switch accredited facilities to avoid disruption in free healthcare services.

Several healthcare providers in Calabarzon have either lost or declined to renew their accreditation under PhilHealth’s YAKAP program, raising the possibility that access to free consultations, checkups, and medicines may become more limited for some patients in the region.

In an advisory, PhilHealth Regional Office IV-A announced that nine healthcare facilities are no longer authorized to provide YAKAP services. The list includes Tagaytay Medical Center, Adventist University of the Philippines, Tanza Specialist Medical Center, Ospital ng Cabuyao, Alfonso Municipal Health Office, and Municipal Health Office in Ternate.

Private institutions also affected are Medeek Ambulatory Surgical Clinic, South Imus Specialist Hospital, Inc., and Thaddeus Maternity Clinic.

Patients currently enrolled at these facilities have been advised to transfer to another accredited YAKAP provider to avoid disruptions to primary care services, preventive healthcare, consultations, and covered outpatient medicines.

The development comes amid growing concerns from some healthcare providers over delays in PhilHealth reimbursements. Earlier this year, a private clinic in Batangas announced it would stop accepting new YAKAP patients after reporting that claims remained unpaid for more than five months.

Under the program, accredited providers initially shoulder the cost of covered services before seeking reimbursement from PhilHealth. Some healthcare institutions have argued that prolonged payment delays place financial strain on facilities, particularly smaller clinics that rely on timely settlements to sustain operations.
